What is a Charter School?
Bridgewater Academy is a public charter school. Charter schools are tuition free public schools that have the flexibility to be more innovative while being held accountable for advancing student achievement. In South Carolina, there are over 30,000 students who attend a charter school.
All South Carolina public charter schools are governed by a board of directors. This independent board approves policies that directly effect the school. These board members are elected according to South Carolina Charter School law.
Public charter schools are non-profit corporations which file an annual 990 with the IRS. Horry County Schools acts as the legal authorizer for Bridgewater Academy. Each year, Bridgewater Academy is required to submit an annual audit to Horry County Schools.
Bridgewater Academy students are required to take the same state standardized tests as other SC public school students.

What other parents are saying:
Amazing school! The staff is absolutely wonderful and the environment is so warm and comfortable. My daughter had been to several different schools, we just couldn't seem to find the right one for her. I was literally signing her up for homeschool when a friend mentioned Bridgewater and as fate would have it there was a spot open. She is doing a million times better now. I'm so relieved we finally found a school actually dedicated to their students' needs. Katherine R.

This has been the place for my son to grow and learn. His confidence and independence has improved since he started. I cannot say enough great things. He looks forward to going to school and enjoys sharing his day.

I can't honestly begin to explain just how happy I am with this school. My daughter has had the hardest time in the public school system. At this school it is way more personable and the staff actually cares about your child. I can't say enough good things. You have no idea how much it means to me and my child.
I cry tears of joy for once! Jennifer W. |
