Hello! Welcome to Bridgewater Academy Middle School ELA!

Parents/Guardians,
My name is Mrs. Amanda Asztalos, and I am a 2019 graduate of Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, NC.  I recently moved back to the area after spending the past 10 years as an Army spouse in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. My husband is currently a Recruiter in the area.  I am very excited to be back with my friends and family in Myrtle Beach!

I believe that students need to have solid foundations in English, Grammar, and Writing in order to be successful in High School and beyond. In my class my students will learn the foundations through the state standards with a rigorous curriculum of literature from around the world. We will learn how to read better, comprehend better, communicate better, and write in a way to be fully prepared for the rigor of high school.

My objectives for your children include but are not limited to:
  • Learn how to enjoy reading through lots of exposure to multiple types of texts
  • Become organized so as to manage their assignments on their own
  • Gain confidence in themselves through taking responsibility in their learning
  • Learn higher-level skills: analyze, evaluate, infer, and create
  • Write a well-organized, effective essay for the TDA component of SC Ready
  • Collaborate effectively with others through multiple mediums
  • Have respect for self and others
