Welcome to Bridgewater Academy!
Origin: Bridgewater Academy has been educating children to a diverse population of students and giving parents an alternative choice to the Public Schools of Horry County since 1988. With support and encouragement from parents, past and present, Bridgewater wrote the charter to open a public school in order to offer all students in our district accessibility. Bridgewater Academy has been operating as a Public Charter School since September 2003.
Description: Bridgewater Academy, centrally located in Horry County, offers a high-content rigorous academic program based on the Core Knowledge philosophy along with the South Carolina performance standards. The school's commitment to excellence emphasizes personal responsibility for students and accountability by teachers with a no short cuts and no excuses policy. Governed by an elected board that consists of community members, parents, and educators, Bridgewater's focus is on the education of each individual child based on his or her specific needs. It is our goal to nurture our students and instill in them the desire to learn and have lifelong success. An afternoon tutoring program is built into our school day for students needing assistance.
Mission: The mission of Bridgewater Academy is to provide a structured curriculum that is academically challenging, and to instill in a diverse population of students the desire to learn, excel, and become responsible citizens.
